Deacon Ministry

Deacons are special servants of the Church; in fact, that is what the word "Deacon" literally means - a servant. The purpose of deacons is to serve the Lord by conducting the caring ministry of the church - doing the work of benevolence, visiting the sick, being alert to the spiritual needs of the congregation - and promoting unity within the church, thus freeing the pastor to focus on prayer and the proclamation of the Word.
Yokefellow Ministry
The Yokefellow ministry is comprised of a group of men who serve alongside and under the nurturing supervision of the active deacon body. Yokefellows help deacons–in partnership with the Pastor and Ministry Staff–accomplish the pastoral ministries of the church. Like the deacon, a yokefellow is a servant to Jesus Christ and to the church to which he belongs.
The Deacon/Yokefellow Family Ministry Plan of FBC Cumby
This plan is designed to minister to the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of our congregation. Our goal is to be an extension of our Pastor’s ministry by touching the lives of others in a way that demonstrates the love of Christ.
Each Deacon/Yokefellow is paired with several families of which they will be personally involved with.
How can your Deacon/Yokefellow help you?
By being a good listener, praying for you, providing support in times of crisis, discussing with you your faith and walk with Christ, keeping you informed about church activities, decisions, and plans of special interest. Your Yokefellow is also able to assist you in finding ways to serve, and rejoicing with you and your family.
